Worksites

Ice solutions for mines, remote worksites, factories, workshops and building sites

Remote sites are the hardest thing you can ask an ice machine to do – high ambient temperatures, hard or bore water, long distances between where ice is made and where it’s needed, and no technician down the road when something stops. Equipment that copes in a city kitchen doesn’t necessarily cope here.

What we supply
  • Worksite and minesite ice dispensers – sealed, sanitary units built for crib rooms and drinking water stations, dispensing at around 5 kg a minute with the ice held in an enclosed bin.
  • Ice rooms. We have designed and built these for mine sites where the volumes are past what any packaged machine will do. That’s refrigeration engineering rather than an equipment sale, and it’s work we’ve done before.
  • Sub-zero flake for sites that need ice to survive being carted around in the heat.
How much ice does a site need?

Honestly – there is no published figure. We looked for a per-worker benchmark from manufacturers and industry bodies in Australia, the United States, Canada and the UK, and there isn’t one. Anyone quoting you a number per head has made it up.

What works instead is sizing from crew numbers, shift pattern, how far the ice has to travel and whether it’s feeding crib rooms, water stations or both. That’s a conversation, and it’s one we’re happy to have properly.

Civil, building sites, factories and workshops

It doesn’t take a mine site to justify a machine. Civil and building sites, factories and workshops all hit the same problem — a crew that needs cold water and ice through the day, and nowhere practical to keep it. An ice and water dispenser in the crib room covers both from one unit, and it’s a far more hygienic way to serve ice than a scoop and an open bin. The ice stays enclosed until it’s dispensed, so there’s no shared scoop and no hands in the bin — which counts for more, not less, on a site where everyone’s coming off the tools.
