Built for the rush, not the average
Clubs are the hardest sizing job in hospitality, because the demand is nearly all peak. A function, a match day or a Friday night can take a full day’s ice in a couple of hours and then nothing for three days. Sizing on average usage is how clubs end up buying bagged ice at the worst possible moment.
What suits a club
- Half cube – high volume through the bar and fountain service, packs well and chills quickly.
- More storage than the maths suggests – manufacturers typically pair a machine with a bin holding a little under half a day’s output. Rush-driven venues should go bigger.
- Allow around 1.4 kg per bar seat on a busy night, plus about 0.9 kg a head for functions.
If you run big functions, extra storage is usually the better investment. The machine has all week to fill it — it just needs somewhere to put it.
