Cafes
Clear ice for iced coffee, shakes and cold brew
Cafe demand is spiky. A hot Saturday can double a quiet Tuesday, and iced drinks are the first thing to run short. Most cafes need less total ice than they expect, but they need it available in a rush — which makes the storage bin, not the machine, the usual bottleneck.
What suits a cafe
- Half cube or nugget – packs tightly into a takeaway cup, so the drink looks full and chills fast.
- Undercounter self-contained – makes and stores ice in one unit, fits under a bench, no separate bin to find room for.
- Allow around 0.16 to 0.27 kg per iced drink – then size for your busiest hour rather than your daily average.
Cafe machines usually live in a hot, tight spot behind the coffee machine. Output drops in the heat, so leave clearance around it and allow for that when sizing
