Guest ice that looks after itself
Hotel ice is unsupervised. It sits on a guest floor, gets used at all hours, and nobody is watching it — so reliability and overnight recovery matter more than headline capacity. Guests filling eskies in summer will push demand well past the nightly average.
What suits a hotel
- Crescent – clear and slow-melting, and the curved shape resists bridging in the bin, which matters when nobody’s there to break it up.
- Ice and water dispensers – ice stays enclosed and guests don’t handle a scoop, which is more hygienic on a public floor.
- Allow around 2.3 kg per room per night, or 3.2 to 3.6 kg if guests routinely fill eskies.
Noise counts on a guest floor. Worth siting the machine where a compressor cycling at two in the morning won’t be heard through a bedroom wall.
